Oklahoma's 2026 deer gun season runs Nov. 21-Dec. 6, according to the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation (ODWC). Muzzleloader season comes first (Oct. 24-Nov. 1), so rifle ranges get busy from late October on.

Okmulgee GMA (200 yd) and Cherokee PHA (200 yd) may be closed to non-hunting use in fall; ODWC's area pages conflict on whether the ranges stay open, so call the area biologist first.
Statewide ODWC ranges with 100-yard (or longer) lanes
All are free to use with a valid Oklahoma hunting or combination license (unless exempt), open sunrise to 30 minutes after sunset:
- 200 yards: Canton WMA, Okmulgee GMA and Cherokee PHA (call first: possible fall closure)
- 100 yards: Kaw, Copan, Atoka, James Collins, Packsaddle, Fort Supply, Beaver River, Optima, Fort Gibson, Texoma/Washita Arm
- 80 yards: Hickory Creek
ODWC ranges allow paper or clay targets only. Shooters under 16 need an adult 18+ right beside them. See our Oklahoma public ranges guide for all the rules.
Tips
- WMAs can close for controlled hunts, so call the area biologist before you drive.
- Bring your own bench rest, targets and stapler to WMA ranges; there's no staff.
- Sight in with the ammunition you'll hunt with, at the distance you expect to shoot.
